Play Days

The Solent And District Land Rover Club

So....What is a Play Day then?

A ‘Play day’ is a club event organized on private land which the club hires for the purpose.  The club caters for all levels of driver ability at these events, from absolute beginners who have never been off road before, through to very experienced drivers.  We also cater for all types of Land Rover vehicles, from Series vehicles through to purpose built hybrids, even Freelanders and latest versions of the Range Rover have been know to come along!

Please note There are a couple of sites that we use which can be extreme (such as Minstead) which means they are not well suited for shiny and expensive vehicles.  This will normally be noted in the event description.  Please check with the event organizer or a committee member if you have not used a site before and are concerned about vehicle damage

Most events will have a burger van or similar on site to provide drinks and something to eat.  If it is not possible for the club to arrange this then there will be a note in the event listing.

The events are marshaled by experienced volunteers whose prime role is to ensure safety on site; they will also lend advice and assistance as required.  The marshals police the event to ensure the clubs Code of Conduct is adhered to.  Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct or marshal’s instructions will mean that you will be asked to leave the site.

As with all club events your vehicle needs to have adequate insurance cover and a valid MOT certificate to participate.  If you are bringing your vehicle on a trailer or lorry to an event don’t forget your documents!

At the event there will be a sign in point where you will need to sign in with a valid membership card.  You will receive a window sticker to say you have done this, any instructions or extra safety considerations for the day and usually a site map.  Please do not venture out of the car park onto the site before you have done this or you will be asked to leave.

At the end of the day please ensure you sign out so we know everyone has left the site before the marshals leave.

On some sites we are limited to the total number of vehicles on site, and others have historically been poorly attended.  It is therefore very important to pre-book if you are interested in attending events.  Failure to do so will mean that you will not be able to attend events where numbers are limited if they become fully booked.  Events at sites which have been poorly attended in the past will be cancelled if the number of pre-booked vehicles does not cover the cost of the site to the club.

The Clubs Code of Conduct can be found here.

There are a number of pictures taken at club ‘Play day’s’ in the Gallery.
